Christiane Amanpour, CNN's chief international anchor, is leaving the network after 43 years. She will end her CNN show "Amanpour" in May and depart the network at the end of June, according to a statement she issued Monday.

Amanpour joined CNN in 1983 as an assistant on the international assignment desk when the network was still establishing itself. She became one of the network's most decorated journalists over four decades at the organization.

Her departure from CNN does not coincide with the network's recent acquisition by Skydance Media, which David Ellison's company completed. The Guardian reports the exit is not thought to be linked to that transaction.

Amanpour also hosts "Amanpour and Company" on PBS, which will conclude at the end of this year. She did not announce plans for her next role or employer in the available statement.
