Heineken, the world's second-largest brewer, has warned UK pubs and bars that rising use of weight-loss drugs could cut beer and cider sales. The company sent a presentation to British hospitality customers earlier this month stating that GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy can reduce the desire to drink alcohol. Heineken predicted this could lead to "fullness and fewer serves" of pints in pubs and bars.

The warning reflects concern among beverage producers about the expanding market for weight-loss drugs and their potential effects on consumer behavior. Heineken did not specify the scale of the expected impact or provide data on current adoption rates among UK drinkers.
