Workers at HelloFresh's Newark, New Jersey facility filed an amended class-action complaint alleging verbal and physical abuse and denial of bathroom breaks. One former worker told The Guardian he experienced incontinence issues as a result of the denied breaks.
The newly proposed amended complaint extends a class-action lawsuit first filed in August 2024 against HelloFresh and staffing agencies. A New Jersey state court judge is scheduled to review the amended complaint at a hearing on October 23.
HelloFresh denies the allegations. The company said it found the claims to be "entirely without merit" in a statement to The Guardian.
The lawsuit targets the meal kit delivery service and the staffing agencies involved in hiring and managing workers at the Newark location. The specifics of other allegations in the complaint beyond bathroom access and abuse claims remain unclear from the available court documents.
